10 Reasons Why I Love Mahendra Singh Dhoni

A thorough gentleman and inspiration to the cricketing world, here's why Mahendra Singh Dhoni will always remain in our heart.

1. From a goal keeper to a most successful wicket keeper batsman of India.

Very few of us are aware of the fact that  our captain cool , who belongs from a small town , had initial interest in football and he was a goalkeeper of the football team of his city. Once upon a time he was playing for his football team in the ground and at the same ground, a cricket match between two teams was going on at the same time. It was unfortunate for that team and a fortune for Mahendra Singh Dhoni that the wicket keeper of their cricket team got injured and match got interrupted due to lack of reserved wicket keeper.

After a while, someone suggested captain of  that team  to try Dhoni as a wicket keeper after watching his dives  across the goal post for his team. After a short hesitation, captain of that team asked Dhoni to wear the wicket keeper gloves and play a role of wicket keeper of  his team.

The job behind the wicket done by the Mahendra Singh Dhoni was quiet impressive from the point of view of the team captain and members and rest of the audience.Someone suggested Dhoni to join the cricket team and practice hard as the wicket keeper of the team . Dhoni accepted the challenge and did it in his own style and after that day  what he did with his bat and gloves is the golden history for the Indian cricket. We got most successful captain of Indian cricket team, whom achievements has been proved to be incredible.

He also used to collect tickets  at railway stations and now he has achieved everything, hence this guy has created his destiny and he is achieving more and more for India.

2.One of the most successful captain of India.

Dhoni is the only  Indian captain who has record of having two ICC cricket world cup in two formats, once in 2007 in T 20 cricket and again after four years, in 2011 in the ODI format in the home country.

Also , a title of ICC Champions Trophy and many more such tremendous series victories at home and outside the home, even in Australia and England, where a series win was a status of   level for any Indian team. Over all, our captain cool has proved everything in Indian cricket with all the incredible achievements achieved for Indian cricket.

3. Father of a tremendous shot in cricket "Helicopter shot".

Mahi  created a new funny and powerful shot for world cricket, known as Helicopter shot in which bat of the batsman who play this shot gets a rotation of full circle and ball move along all the way for a maximum.

This shot clearly shows the wrist and hand power of the captain cool, Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

4.One of the best finishers cricket has ever seen.

Dhoni has got the ability to play at any slot in the batting line up. He knows just when to change gears, protect bowlers from blazing slower ones  and finally finishing the job for India, every single time.

He is a great racer and race down the track in such a way that he can easily steal 2 runs at chance of a single and a single where it has no chance for it.

5.He is as cool as ice, less aggressive.

Be in a World Cup final, an ugly spat with opponents or a decision going against him, this man maintains calm  in every situation.

6. He is the perfect example of sportsman spirit.

Who can forget the moment when he recalled Ian Bell in a Test match against England, when he was declared run out by the umpire. No wonder, Dhoni is the proud winner of Spirit of Cricket Award along with the first ever AIPS Fairplay Award in 2011.

In the recent series against South Africa, Mahi came forward and helped for the  treatment of Duplesis, who was suffering from strain during his innings. It shows that Mahi is a man with golden heart.

7.He is the king of Indian advertising space.

Being the captain of Indian cricket team comes with its own perks. The list of brands that Dhoni endorses just keeps on increasing every year, making Dhoni one of the most powerful Indian brand icon.

8.Dhoni dreams of serving the country even after retiring from cricket, as a soldier.

True champions can never get enough of serving the country. Dhoni holds the post of Honorary Lieutenant Colonel in the parachute regiment of Indian military and plans to get more involved with them after retiring from his cricketing duties.

With Dhoni leading another young team to the upcoming World Cup, all India needs is a little bit of boost to recreate history . This World Cup, get together and say it loud #Stay Champion.

9. He stays clear of controversies.

Dhoni is a simple and intelligent man. He never gets into something which could tarnish his image, hurt someone's sentiments or disappoint his fans. Clearly, Dhoni and controversies don't get along same path.

10. Dhoni  keep faith in his players and  he trust them with their  life.

Nobody gave an unknown Joginder Sharma a chance to play for India but Dhoni tossed him the ball in the final over of the World T20 final against Pakistan. We all remember what happened next!

Virendra Sehwag suggested Mahendra Singh Dhoni to stay on as India's limited overs captain till the next World Cup.

New Delhi: Virender Sehwag, who has recently   called time on his international cricket career, has backed under-fire skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni to stay on as India's limited overs captain till the next World Cup.
Replying to queries about Dhoni, Sehwag said: "He should continue as captain till the next World Cup. If he does so, he can leave behind a good World Cup team. And if he retires...you can imagine, even now when Dhoni is there, people have to think about who should bat at 5th, 6th and 7th position.

"If Dhoni is not there, the 5th, 6th and 7th slots will become absolutely free and you cannot expect somebody to finish the match properly", said Sehwag.
The explosive opener dismissed reports that it was Dhoni who was behind the decision to drop him from the Indian team.

Asked if he believed Dhoni had a hand in dropping him from the team, the former India batsman told 'India TV' show 'Aap ki Adalat': "I don't think Dhoni would have done this. He is a nice man at heart. We senior players respect him, and when he first took over as captain, all senior players played under him, gave him guidance and nice suggestions, which he implemented during his captaincy and our team won in T20, ODIs and Test matches."

On whether he had tiffs with Dhoni, Sehwag said: "I don't think any such thing happened. It was all media speculations that Sehwag and Dhoni are at loggerheads. We stay in a hotel together and play matches, I don't think such things occurred.

Had it been so, I would have been dropped much earlier. I don't think (Sourav Ganguly's) statement that Dhoni was behind Sehwag's ouster from Team India) was correct."

When it was pointed out that Ganguly had remarked that a captain always had a say in the selection of players, Sehwag said: "Normally the criterion is, any player can be dropped after non-performance in four Tests whether he is the captain or a senior or a junior player.

"The selectors decide the criteria. I think the picking or dropping of players by a captain used to take place when Ganguly was the skipper, but the scenario changed thereafter, when Rahul Dravid and Anil Kumble took over. Probably they changed the trend and it was decided that only those who perform, shall play."

When pointed out that former India coach Greg Chappell had written in his column that the tiff between Sehwag and Dhoni began because the former wanted to become captain, Sehwag replied: "You can ask Dhoni about this. We played the World Cup together in 2007. To say that I wanted to become the captain is entirely incorrect. When Dhoni became captain and I played under him, we won the T20 World Cup."

"When selections were made for Tests, I clearly told the chief selector, you can check it out with K Srikkanth, that Sehwag said, he had no interest in becoming captain, nor was he interested in becoming vice-captain. I told him you can pick up anybody as vice-captain. You can check it out with Dhoni. I had no interest in becoming the captain."

When reminded that it was he who told a press conference on July 6, 2012 that we won the World Cup not because of Dhoni's captaincy, but because the team performed well, Sehwag said: "Ask anybody sitting here in the audience whether my statement was correct or not. My statement was not wrong, my statement was incorrectly portrayed or projected.

"I was not making a jibe at Dhoni. What I said was: do not give the entire credit to the captain, give credit to the team too."
